Steel Spider
Oliver "Ollie" Osnick was a really bright teenage dweeb who idolized Doctor Octopus. He created a set of mechanical arms like Doc Ock's, and then used them to break into a toy store. Spider-Man stumbled across his break-in and fought with him in the dark until he realized it wasn't the real Doc Ock. Inspired by Spider-Man's heroic example, Ollie rebuilt his mechanical arms to resemble spider legs, put on an extra-large Spider-Man costume and became the spectacular Spider-Kid. This, too, did not work out well for Ollie.
Ollie put away the arms and went to college, but to impress a girl he revamped his arms again and became the crime-fighting Steel Spider. Successful as a small-time crime fighter, Ollie continued as the Steel Spider, eventually becoming obsessed w ith the role. As an unlicensed super hero, the Thunderbolts were sent to arrest him. When the Steel Spider resisted, Venom bit off Ollie's right arm. Ollie was arrested and taken to jail.
The Recipe
The Steel Spider is made from a repainted Minimate. His mask is from a modified Daredevil mask, and his belt is from a New X-Men Wolverine. His wristbands are made from cut rubber bands. His costume details are made from cut paper. The metal straps on his chest are made from cut Brainiac 13 tentacles, bent then glued into place. His spider legs are also made from Brainiac 13 tentacles. I cut the tentacles into equal parts, then fastened them together with a little Magic Sculpt. I used googly eyes for the dome shapes of the joints. The tentacles attach to the back of the Steel Spider with a backpack I made from Magic Sculpt.
