Minimate Detective Comics Cover
In 2010 the fine people at the Minimate Multiverse forum held a contest for making a poster about Minimates. So I entered, using an idea I had the last time there was a Minimate art contest - the Rainbow Batman cover.

The Recipe
I started by drawing the cave details in pencil, then scanned it into Photoshop. Using the pencil art as a guide, I painted in the colors for the cave background and floor in Photoshop. Then I recreated the title & other lettering on the cover through a combination of magic wand and clipping path work. The word balloons were created in Photoshop, and I used a couple of fonts that looked very similar to the original lettering to add Batman & Robin's words. I then created the TV set in Illustrator and imported the art into Photoshop, where I applied the color and effects.I took photos of Robin and the Rainbow Batmen Minimates posed in the positions from the cover (the Rainbow Batmen costumes have the help of a stand from Slimer). Importing the photos into Photoshop, I clipped the background from them and positioned them on the poster. I added a few shadows for the figures, them moved various things around until everything looked balanced and was positioned like the cover. After I was happy with everything, I tried a few new tricks to give the poster a grungy, older feel. I'm pretty happy with the results.
