In 2006 the fine people at the Minimate Multiverse forum held a contest
for replicating a comic book cover or artwork using Minimates. I decided
to remake the cover to X-Men #1, mainly because I always wanted to make
original X-Men Minimates.

The Recipe
I started by using Illustrator to create pieces of the cover, like the background, text, logo and Magneto's force field. I then made the five X-Men Minimate customs (each have individual entries in the Marvel section). Then photos were taken of the X-Men and Magneto in cover-appropriate poses. These photos and the artwork were all dumped into Photoshop for
positioning. Then the final effects like Cyclops' eye-beam were added, and the piece was done.
